About Susan Sinclair
Susan Sinclair has taught the Pilates Method for twenty years and the
Alexander Technique for fifteen years. Susan maintains a private
practice in both techniques at her fully equipped studio in downtown
Toronto, and is director and primary teacher of training programmes in
both disciplines. After completing her Alexander Technique training
at the Alexander Foundation in Philadelphia, with Bruce and Martha
Fertman, Susan continued to study and assist at the Foundation until
joining faculty in 1999. Susan has studied and been mentored by
senior Philadelphia Pilates teacher, Karen Carlson, for some eighteen
years, after the completion of her Pilates training in Toronto.
Aside from her studies of dance, the Alexander Technique and Pilates;
Susan has studied and practiced Contact Improvisation, aerial and
vertical dance, Tai Chi, Aikido and Developmental Movement. Susan's
broad experience and exposure to a diversity of movement practices
informs her teaching of both students and teachers, her programming at
the Centre, and her respect for movement disciplines of all
varieties. In August 2008, Susan presented her work at the Eighth
International Congress of the F. M. Alexander Technique in Lugano,
Switzerland.
